I am mate - on my own by the look of it hahah

I think a lot of petrol heads have had the conversation with the other half and lost out to Valentines Day, not me though !

If you fancy going give me a call, there is a few of us going - I'm taking the usual spam and egg cooking facilities for a hearty breakfast

I went, and if I catch the marshal in the SWB shogun (or similar - wasn't paying too much attention until the drenching) with the amber lights on its roof who thought it was acceptable to speed past my wife and I on Baxten's lane and soaked us, he'll be on the receiving end of a stand up meeting without coffee - tt.

I've never seen such a st standard of driving from many many of the spectators. What is it with some people who watch a bit of motorsport and suddenly think they're Tommi? There is no wonder that petrol heads in this country and regarded with disdain.

Soaking anyone is unacceptable. Rallying in the Yorkshire Forests already has enough PR issues without this sort of behaviour.

Anyhoo, here's a few snaps from the day's fun & games..

A solid entry list was helped by several crews using it as a shakedown for Rallye Sunseeker including 2 time British Champion Jonny Milner making his return to the Forests in a heavily updated Toyota Corolla WRC.

1.Escort is as Escort does...i.e. sideways. Most of Roppa was clear but some of the other stages still had snow on them, hence the studded tyres...

2 This Sunbeam Ti almost came to say hello after running wide into a ditch and partly climbing a 3 foot bank. A length of rope and a selection of Spectators (including moi) got them going again...

3 The aforementioned Mr Milner in his Toyota...

4 An absolutely gorgeous MK1 Escort.

5 And the crowd looked on....

6 Another sideways MK2...

7 Rally winner Paul Bird in his Focus WRC..

8 Makeshift fire extinguisher !

Narrow knobblies but no studs allowed on british events I'm afraid. Good photies. Made me disappointed not to be out.
