I noticed that our Wedge-Fest isn't listed within Sprint, all the others are there, Griff growl etc...

Whats up here, are the club not supporting the event this year..or?

It wouldnt surprise me, they didnt to turn up at last years event with official TVRCC stand, promised to contribute a small budget to assist the BBWF and unfortunately that failed to materialise too.
Ho Hum, but we where able to utilise their Event liability so that has to be a bonus and saved a lot of additional cost.

Who is organising it? I know some of you guys are anti TVRCC but you can still do what you want with the support of the club to whatever extent you want. We get very little help from the club with the Growl (as has been the case from the beginning as we like the Wedges wanted to try single model meets and the club were extremely anti at that time) and essentially do what we want with the organasation. They do usually come along with a stand on the Saturday and we may see one or two of the committee members but nothing beyond that other than the publicity through the web site and Sprint,

I think Adam Quantill has stepped forward to organise this one..

As FFG says - it's well worth having TVR CC on board as the do help publisise it to wedge owners, provide liability insurance and are pretty hands off apart that .. and it's worked very well in the past.

I know there were some who were initially reluctant about single marque meetings but they have been very popular and a real success.

Just call the events co-ordinator (who ever that is) and get it added..

TBH you need to market yourselves with all the resources available to you and the TVRCC are just one of them. If the TVRCC haven't been made aware of the event then they can't advertise it. It's the people who come to the event that make the event so as long as you put the effort into publicising the event widely it will hopefully be successful.

An advert in Sprint will help raise awareness to the non forum types but you need to keep updating all avenues to keep the interest high and I'd suggest that includes mailing all ROs with info etc.

Sharon Blanchford (Number 55) is the person to contact re getting the event listed in Sprint.

David,
I hadn't taken too much notice as we've been really busy. Though Gandalf may have stepped in but I know he's been very ill so many not the impetus yet.
Hope it does get the publicity it deserves.

I have mentioned this to the Sprint editor who has passed the issue to the Events Coordinator.

Good, as attractive as it is having a single model event, having support from TVRCC can only help towards keeping the yearly meet going. Adverts in Sprint also highlight it to those who knew nothing about it, and some of them could be future Wedge owners.

I quite enjoyed looking around the other models there last year.... also it re-assured me that i'm glad to own a BBW wink

Hi Guys

Mandy has kindly forwarded the email letting me know about this event.

Whilst I would like to apologise for not including any details in Sprint, I can only do so if someone sends the information through. Please send all the details through to events@tvrcc.com and I'll happily publicise them in all the usual places.

With regards to TVRCC support, again I'm more than happy to discuss the level of support the organisers wish to have. However, I don't like to step on people's toes when they are planning an event. I have organised many of my own in the past and it's very easy to have too many chiefs and not enough indians.

Please - get in touch and let me know how I can help you.

Kind regards,
Sharon

Hi Cheddar

I managed the list of TVRCC events last year, including publicising this one. I was not asked to organise a TVRCC stand at the event and was not contacted regarding a budget.

I turn up to as many of the events that I can and happily run stalls at them. if I can't make it I arrange cover from the TVRCC office to make sure someone can.

We do have a small events budget and I am happy to discuss this with the organisers if they can get in touch with me.

Thanks,
Sharon

Thank you very much for your support Sharon, it's very much appreciated. Adam is organising this year, not sure if he's in the club but I'm very happy to do any liasing. It would be great to see a TVR Club stand there IMHO & take advantage of all the teccy stuff & advertising in Sprint. I attended BBWF in 06 & 07 and they were great events. Went off on a tangent a bit with my Griff & Chimp in 08 & 09 but I'm back in a proper TVR now so I'm really hoping that BBWF this year & in future years will be very enjoyable, enthusiastic & noisey! in the best possible way. thumbup

I think you'll find its a beer belly hehe

Thanks Sharon, wasn't being critical about lack of BBWF info in Sprint. I appreciate it's down to us to let you know.

There is a thread started by Adam at the top of this forum for 16/17/18 July at the usual venue of Ettington Chase.

So we have plenty of time to get this mentioned in Sprint? smile

Sharon - I'd also like to echo my thanks ..

The meet has always been open to all models of TVR as many who own other models have an interest in the wedge model.

I'm guessing that Adam must be away .. as he has not replied but I'm sure most of us always enjoy having the TVR stand at BBWF - as it's always added to the event.

As a former organiser - if also very conforting to have the liability insuracne too .. in this strange initgatious world we live in (sadly).

I'm hoping to attend in my SEAC this year - funds permitting as I'm getting made redundant shortly.

Just one final word - if you bring the Daewoo park it round the back hehe as we have standards that have to be maintained you know. Did not want just Jeremy Clarkson being the only one taking the mick out of your other car smile

Interesting Points Sharon but:
1) The club was contacted by myself through Nick Kay (events organiser) prior to the event.
2) I have some copies of emails from myself to the TVRCC.
3) I have an email from yourself that you sent to me, in reply to the one sent after the event with regards to the budget allowance and in it you state that you would pass it on to Nick (kind of contradicts your statement above)
4) As this is an open forum it would probably be best not to copy and paste them as I have no wish to start an arguement.
5) We are damn gratefull for the liability insurance for the event though as it would have been uneconomical to hold the BBWF without it, so many thanks for that.

I did kick things off, not sure if that means I'm organising it, but what the hey ;^)

Ettington is booked, at least, next step is to get all the suppliers on board (Chedder you were going to email me a list mate? ;^)

As for the club I'm not a member at the moment (beer belly notwithstanding) but I mean to renew soon, although if someone who is a member would like to "join forces" with me they could then approach the club and get it in the diary right now - this would speed up the process, pm me if you're up for it.

If anyone has any ideas for the evening do then I'm all ears. We have the option of the function room at Ettington if we need it, and they can do a hog roast at a resonable rate per head. We just need a theme for the night (apart from drinking beer).

As a concerned member I did contact the Club as I wrote in my earlier post. What is missing here?

Pistonheads contributors appear to hold some animosity against the Club; why is this?

I understand that Steve Davis is an avid supporter of Wedges and is on the editorial board of Sprint. Although I read that he has been ill, surely someone else could have stepped into the breach a lot sooner rather than a mere mortal like me.
