aperture 3 has finally been released. looks good. it can now geotag from imported tracks. will be tres useful for me during my road trip to istanbul in a taxi in the summer 
also can read faces - i never did manage to get that to work in iphoto, and has a brush tool to make precise non destructive changes which will certainly come in useful.
looks interesting. $199, £169, student, £58.75 (a veritable bargain if you're a student methinks)

Just to add, if you're thinking of upgrading to Aperture 3 but have an older non-Intel Mac then you may need to check whether this version will work. From what I read of the specs, looks like it's only designed to run on the more recent machines.
