Taken from today's Metro - Very amusing!

Nothing much usually happens in workings men’s clubs. The odd raised voice over a game of dominoes, perhaps. Maybe a shout of glee at a bull check-out at darts.

That is until the last packet of dry roasted peanuts is up for grabs. Then, things can get a bit, erm, tasty.

A heated row between two men over the bag boiled over into a street fight involving 50 people, saw dozens of police officers called to the scene and resulted in at least six brawlers sprayed in the face with CS gas.

The High Brooms Working Men’s Club in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, was packed with more than 100 people when the fight broke out.

‘One minute everyone was a having a great time chatting away about this and that and then two guys started arguing at the bar over a bag of dry roasted nuts,’ said eye-witness Charles Greenway, 47.

‘They were telling the barman that they wanted the last bag and eventually one just lamped the other and it all kicked off with half the club punching and kicking each other.

‘It was a sad end to the night, I can tell you,’ said Mr Greenway. The fight spilled out into the street, prompting dozens of neighbours of the club to call police.

Police confirmed about 50 people were involved in the brawl which broke out at 11.30pm last Friday.

Seven men, aged between 18 and 49, were arrested on suspicion of committing public order offences. Five have been bailed and two have been issued with fixed penalty notices.

A spokeswoman said: ‘Officers used incapacitant spray when making the arrests in order to subdue those believed to be involved.’

I've been in there a few times as a friend of mine is a member. Let's put it this way... The initial argument over some nuts was just the catalyst needed for many of the 'less-intelligent' creatures that frequent the place to start throwing their weight around, despite the fact it had absolutely nothing to do with them.

If I go there again, I'll make sure I take a sackful of peanuts to placate the masses...

There must be some sort of disgusted of TW joke in there but for the life of me I can't figure one out. Playing football at ST Johns tonight so might try and venture in for a look after, tempted to join just to see the caliber of the inhabitants that could get into a fight over a bag of nuts!

When I worked in Sainsbury's many years ago there was a fight Christmas Eve morning over the last bottle of XYZ shampoo on the shelf. The fact that there were other bottles of ZZZ shampoo available was not the point, oh no these two ladies wanted the XYZ shampoo.

They were nicked by a riot van load of TSG cop who happened to be in getting some last minute snacks.

Yeah, but XYZ shampoo is far superior to ZZZ, so I don't blame them for fighting over the last one.

You can just imagine it can't you -

"Give me that shampoo"
"Why should I?"
"Because I'm worth it"

Reminds me of when we were doing sword training and Mike grabbed the last sword in the sword rack. I was livid!! Except as he had the sword and I had empty gloved hands, I let him keep the sword.

If the worthless population of that despicable hellhole Kent want to start blessing the gene pool by removing their foul taint from it then that would be the single worthwhile thing any of the medieval throwbacks have ever, ever, achieved.

I wish the neolithic scum good luck with it, and am willing, in this instance only, to travel to Headcorn and hire a hot air balloon so I can airdrop a packet of nuts into any community that doesn't currently have one, to catalyse a good purging.
