Fundraising for youth groups...

Are any of the PH massive involved in youth work? If so, I'm looking to pick your brains.
I'm involved with a youth group in my local area, and as part of this we run a minibus which we are looking at replacing this year. Its an LDV Convoy, and like all good Convoys should, its rusting quite badly.
To raise funds for this we're looking at doing a few things, sponsored events, applying for grants and using money from our savings (I've been putting money away for the past few years for this very event).
If any of you have had to do this sort of thing yourself, I'm interested to hear your stories; what sort of fundraisers you took part in, where grants are available from or and fundraising events you've organised. Really I'm just after some fresh ideas and a bit of inspiration!
