POR 15 topcoats?

I am painting my Chim chassis and wishbones with POR15.
I have the POR15 Silver topcoat for the chassis but want to paint the wishbones white.
Do i need a POR15 specific paint or will smoothrite or similar do the job?

POR do a piant called Whitecote which Frost.co.uk sell. I was looking at it today to do my old metal windows at home with. By the looks of it you needs to paint the self etching primer first and then the whitecote which is a 2 coat system. Maybe a tad OTT for the wishbones if you've already done the POR grey. Also seems OTT for my windows but the house is old and it'll take me yonks to clean them so I only want to be painting them once.

I have the 'metal ready' to prep the bare metal as ive had the wishbones shotblasted. I will paint with the POR15 but need to know if its ok to use hammerite or similar as a topcoat.

Sorry Derek, hadn't realised you hadn't painted them yet. Why don't you just do them with the Whitecote direct onto the shotblasted metal to save doing 4 or 5 different operations/layers?
You shouldn't need any prep if you do them straight from blasting. Nice surface to key to.

I have used the white coat paint, also called 'hard nose paint', on my Cerb chassis and it appears to be fine 1 year later.
I got mine to bare metal, used metal ready, then primer, then several layers of white coat.

Using a decent brush, the finish is superb.

I am a bit concerned over the 2 coat part of the Whitecote. How did you find it? I'll be stripping and painting 200 year old metal framed windows so shouldn't need too much of it.
