Found this on Five's website:

http://about.five.tv/faqs/customer-services?page=3
Click on 6.NHRA Drag Racing.

Appears to be the same answer for everything from NASCAR on down.

Pity.

Spent ages looking for ESPN2 feeds on the internet, but no luck.... Love to hear if anyone has a way too.

I reckon Sky could make a few bob if they made it Pay-per-view... but they're not that clever I don't think. Mind you they showed the Daytona 500 a couple weeks back.

How many people do you think would actually pay to watch it Barry?

You'd be lucky if you got 5000 on pay per view. Which in TV terms isn't worth getting out of bed for.

I guess not, the average for a fight on SBO is about £15 ish (poor do for less than two minutes sometimes) but you're probably nowhere near 5000 would stump up to watch a live feed.

I have also tried every way possible I can think of to look for NHRA 2010 coverage in the UK since FiveTV have decided not to cover it. According to the NHRA website, ESPN2 coverage of NHRA is broadcast in the UK by AFN (American Forces Network). Now I guess it is not possible to receive AFN in the UK if you are a civilian, but I could be wrong. There is also the issue of how one receives the AFN technically.

Any ideas anyone ? Have Googled AFN and difficult to find out information I need, maybe if someone is really in to Satellite TV out there they may know.

It seems such a shame that ESPN's European channels can't show some NHRA. Surely it wouldn't be that expensive to buy from their sister USA station / owners. ESPN Classic for example just seems to show old football matches etc. I am a football fan but that does not appeal at all ! Broadcast some NHRA though and I am an instant subscriber.

I have email ESPN but no reply.

I wish I knew somebody in the USA who watched NHRA on ESPN2. I would ask them to record the Sunday show on DVD and post it to me !! I would gladly pay $20 a show ! Anyone in the USA want to earn a few easy dollars ??

Sadly AFN is strictly for serving American Forces personnel as the satellite decoder is only available from an AAFES outlet.

It is sad that ESPN shows so much soccer in Europe when every other channel does the same. Shame no one wants to build a market in Europe for NHRA including the NHRA themselves. They just need to look at NFL to see how to run a global franchise business.
Has anyone found a way to view NHRA events via the web?

Luckily we have SportKlub TV here in Croatia who will show selected NHRA events as they didm in 2009. Sadly, the soundtrack is reduced to a whisper for the local language commentator to overdub it into the local lingo. In so doing, the whole thing is ruined. The words "point the missed completely" come to mind.

Got this reposnse today from an email i sent to the NHRA back in March.

After a long delay, we have finally received word from ESPN that NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing will begin airing on ESPN UK beginning Monday, June 7 with NHRA Race Day. Later that week, Thursday, June 10 will be the three-hour presentation of the NHRA Route 66 Nationals from Chicago, Illinois. The remaining 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series schedule will be posted later in the form of amendments to the current schedule. Log on to http://tv.espn.co.uk for dates and times.

We appreciate your patience and support of NHRA.

Sincerely,

Jerry Archambeault
