Sorry, another suspender question..

I'm about to order new shocks & springs for my car. Tim at ACT has quoted me, and it sounds quite reasonable, my only question is are there other places i should enquire with as well?

Sorry another question, is there much to be gained from ordering the more expensive gas shocks?

Thanks

Comadis, you cheerful bugger!

Although, I agree insomuch as more money = better shox. Not to say the Gaz arent a good shock, but the usual problem is that the adjusters can seize due to salt spray and the like. Best bet seems to be to plaster in waxoyl/grease. Nitrons dont seem to have this problem, however you'd need to convert the car to run coilovers...

Also unless you're sprinting or the like, I reckon it'll be a small difference between Gaz and Nitron and Gaz and knackered 20yo shocks!

I have just put on Gaz all round bought them direct from the Gaz factory - I don't think there is anything wrong with the quality - I think if you ever get a problem they will replace them no problems can't ask for more than that.

Looking at their website, they show the 420 SEAC, i assume that also applies to the 450?

Just to be clear, these are just the shocks..or coilovers??

Wyn, i gave Richard at TVR car parts a call last week re: The Gaz shock & spring kit. I wanted to know how high the car would sit? They have a set to fit to a 350i so were going to let me know...

Have you fitted yours yet, are you aware of how they will look once fitted?

Cheers thumbup

I have the rear gaz golds and they are very good. Quality is excellent. Height on the rears is adjustable.

Don't forget there is also the Steve Heath option which is adjustable all round but does need some engineering & welding at the front.

Forgot to mention he gives a discount for bits ordered for delivery at BBWF ..

I was in touch with Steve a few months back, and got the impression that he is no longer doing the front coil-over kits. Having spoken to Richard Thorpe as well, he says that strengthening of the turrets and the bottom wishbones would be required if going the coil-over route. Cost (including the dampers and springs) would have been around £800'ish IIRC.

Tbh coilovers may be more than i need, they would be more relevant for those who do regular track days. Also maybe to harsh for road use??

Just replacing the rear shocks with gaz golds (comes with new springs) would do that .. the exhaust can be adjusted up too..
