Pre Cat removal - any downsides?

I've decided to go for it and remove the pre-cats as well. The car is a standard 500, in excellent running order. I didn't want to mess with it, but i have been itching to take them out for months, after reading about the alleged benefits.
It took me an hour to remove the drivers side manifold, and another 90 mins to get the fecker out, the other side comes off tomorrow.
I hope all the effort is worth it.........!!!!

I dug mine out a while ago, I found soaking it in water means you dont breathe in the nasty dusty stuff.
Just had the car MOT'd today, Co at idle is slightly up from last year. @ 0.15% limit is 0.3, the last mot showed 0.07% with the precats in but it passed today with no advisories which is always good.
ACT Do a set of stainless manifold bolts which are easier to get at, not fitted mine yet as i dont fancy taking it all off again at the mo..
As to downsides, you wait till you hear it Mr!

Finished taking the pre-cats out today, took 10hrs from start to finish.
Fired it up an immediately noticed the difference in sound, much more burble and definitely louder, until warmed up then it quietened a bit (but not much).
I would say it feels more responsive to drive now and i am happy with the extra volume that it provides. The standard exhaust in my opinion is a little too quiet, but the pre-cat removal has given it just enough extra sound, overall i think just what i could have been looking for.
Reduced under bonnet temperatures can only be a big bonus, so if your thinking about taking the plunge i can recommend that all the ball ache, and the loss of skin is worth it in the end.(Plus you get out of going shopping with the missus)
