Obviously depends on condition but they are worth as much as someone is willing to pay for one! Would say you are looking at £20k - skys the limit, if you can find one of course!

I remember being offered one back in 1990 for the princley sum of £2000! Didn't have the money to buy it at the time, the very same car sold in 2003 for £18k!

Sick as a dog springs to mind!!

ETA, bear in mind very very good RS2000's are now commanding £15k +!

I would agree; £20K - £30K for a good original, and genuine, one.

Well heres my dilema im on holiday in Sydney australia at the mo til 3 march and its bloody hot HA HA, and have seen advert for australian escort mk1 lotus twin cam original matching numbers car needing a respray and light restoration
.I have spoken to owner who states ozzy ones had large square headlights. Also 150kmh speedo.I dont know DIDDLY SQUAT about these babys but can arrange shipping back to the u.k for around 1500 pounds.I am not sure of the import tax if any.The car has been in storage here for approx 5 years and advertised at 23000 ozy dollars which is around 13000english O.N.O
Does it have less value because being oz and i think ozzy ones werent white i think its original silver. It has originalwheels and new set of minilites. How many where made in the u.k? do you know and how many made here in oz?
Really need some serious advice before travelling the distance to view or would you guys honestly walk away.I would also be willing maybe to purchase on behalf of someone and take a commision.I can raise funds here quite easily as my father is returning to the u.k to live and i could share the container.

My initial reaction was not to bother, and they're probably less sought after than non-aus tcs. That and the fact that most cars cost soooo much more over here. Then I looked at your figures, the ease of it, the fact that the body and shell should be really good comparatively because of the climate, and well, maybe it's a good idea...

Think thats well worth considering. A car like that requiring a bit of work but should be solid will be worth it in the long run.

Wouldn't worry too much about it being an Oz model, if its genuine, a TC is a TC!

They are & always have been a rare sought after model, which will only go up in value & if/when you decide to sell it, you will have buyers breaking your door down to purchase it!

I'd say, go have a look, i would, if i were in your shoes! biggrin

ETA are you sure it has a 150 KMH speedo? UK spec would have had a 140 MPH deep dished speedo which should be in Oz a 220 KMH & the rev counter should go to 8000 RPM not 7000 RPM like on the Mex/RS2000.

Try asking the AVO owners club.
Although the numbers mtach it could have been reshelled and the numbers transferred for example. A genuine shell has additional strengthening in various places I believe; you do need to know what to look for specifically.

Now that is the mutts nuts!! £65k may be strong money, but for a time warp Twink like that, i'm sure that will go for near that price! biggrin

ETA, thats a June 1969 registered model, not a 1968 but strangely has the very early external bonnet release & door locks incorperated into the door handles!

I saw one on here earlier (a few hours ago) at only £65,000! I guess it depends on the quality of the Mk1 and if it's an authentic or a replica model

Car is here and safely locked away in my garage it is for sale. It is in great nick for age and untouched and unrestored now ripe for rebuild.
Great nick and 100% genuine with letters from ford australia in original silver as over there you could specify colour and trim and extras.I am advertising on avo forum and needing to return £23500 forget all the reshelled cars and restored cars with panels welded in and then hidden. This is untouched and only has about 2" bubbling rust in back of front wings and easily repaired.Never welded and even looks to have original wipers, distributor cap and leads.Showing 45k ish miles i think original.I will absolutely not entertain wasters or picture hunters.Any enquiries will have to provide name address and home contact details and i will call back im on 07999956927 thankyou.
