Interested to know what the top speed would be on an the latest M3 if it was de-restricted? Also would a DCT box make any difference to the top end?

I believe 180 is possible but with enough room I think it should be able to touch 300kph(on a downhill stretch).

In the owners manual at the back where it gives all the car specification, it refers to an 'M drivers package' where the top speed is 280kph (174 mph) rather than 250kph - so must be capable of at least that much.

I should think over 300kph is possible.

Afterall, the less powerful and areodynamically inferior E39 M5 will crack 180mph with a tail wind.

I'd think about 300km/h on GPS is about right.

My CSL would go off the clock on the speedo, but that translated to 274km/h on GPS.

A standard E46 would have no chance IMO

Not a chance of bettering 180 but should be good for better than 160. Not more than 170 though .... That'd be my guess

Well a few years ago a had a e46 M3 coupe and i got up to 165 before the limiter kicked in and it was still pulling. I think a de-restricted e46 M3 could hit 180. I'm sure i read somewhere a de-limited e46 m3 engine is capable of 184mph. Let me see if i can find this info......

The e92 M3 could definetly hit 180 btw.
