Hi

I am currently Gallardo shopping. I am also only looking for a car with Front lift due to my parking situation (hump to get over, my current Aston is very close). I am struggling to find the spec I like with a front lift, so was hoping some kind soul might be willing if in the area to bring there Gallardo to compare with my bump and see if I could get away with one WITHOUT the front lift, as it would make my search that little bit easier if I knew it was not essential....

... If anyone is in the St Albans / Herts area and would be willing to come along with their car for me, I would be happy to give you a few notes for helping me out! Let me know? smile

P.S. You can see pictures of my dilemma here on the second page of this thread:

Cheers!

When I was shopping for my Gallardo I was concerned about some biggish speed bumps, and if the car would fit in my garage. I explained this to a dealer (Meridian Modena) and the salesman without any persuasion offered to take the car to my house and find out (50 mile round trip!), which he did. Can you not do the same and ask a dealer?

I think I just struck gold, it just so happens one of the cars in the classifieds is being picked up from central london tomorrow, so they have offered to swing past my house on the way back to their dealership further north.... assuming that happens I won't need any help, but if it does not I would still be interested to hear from anyone where this may not be out of their way smile

Cheers!

Hi Matt, Please update on this if they come by,I have a very similar situation and cant think of much worse than spending 70 - 100 K on a car and getting it home only to find there is no where for it, would be pretty embarrassing

Nope I live smack bam in the middle of the city between the centre and the station (victoria street) but you may have seen me driving about as I live and work in St Albans smile

Once I have made a purchase I will let you know so you can take some shots, would certainly be nice to have some good pictures.

Thanks for everyones help here. A very helpful PH'er (Iain) came over with his beautiful green Gallardo this morning to test my parking area.

- The good news is that it cleared and went in with the front lift on.

- The OK news is that it also did it with the lift turned off, but was VERY close.

- The bad news is that it was so close I now MUST look for a car with the lift, it is not worth the risk without!

Many thanks again for your help!

Its a public entrance to a car park, which I pass through to get to my private gated parking, so putting boards down wouldn't last 5 minutes I have no doubt, if it was a private entrance I would have considered this.

If the right car comes along without lift, I May take it and consider retrofitting the lift (cost depending)... Argh the decisions just get harder and harder..!

Have you been able to someone from Lambo to confirm in writing for definite that this retro-fit is possible? I never could get a definitive answer when I looked into it!!

Hi John

Yes I contacted all 6 Lambo dealers and had several prices and all of them confirmed it is a retro fit they can do.

Prices varied from £5k-6k so NOT a cheap thing to need to do!

Worth noting all of them wanted to know chassis numbers to provide exact cost as even on same year cars there are different kits for different chassis numbers apparently!

That might be why I got the run-around!

Hmm, so you'll be up the A1 to the Hatfield tunnel in a G soon then? :-)

If you keep going north up the A1 and fancy a drive up to cambridge you can take the A505 and go through the weston hills tunnel, then A10 all the way to cambridge. You go through Harston as well and can have a nostalgic look back the the Astons in the dealer there.

That's a favourite run for me...
