I'm planning to take my wife to Pisa in July for our 10th Wedding anniversary, and am looking for some ideas for places to stay and for activities to do for the 2-3 days we will be there. Obviously the leaning tower and square of miracles are already on the agenda!

Thanks

There’s not actually that much to see in Pisa so 2-3 days may be a little too long. We spent an afternoon there and saw pretty much everything there was to see. Florence is an hour down the road and is a nicer place – your mrs will love it.

Well, when I say 2-3 days, we arrive at the airport around lunchtime on the Wednesday so by the time we have got to the hotel and dropped our stuff off and had lunch etc it wil be after 3pm. I suggest we might relax in the spa in the afternoon.

The following day is our actual anniversary so we will have a full day to explore Pisa after a leisurely breakfast etc.

The final day we will no doubt have to check out fairly early, but aren't flying home until 7pm or so, so potentially have a few hours to explore somewhere further afield (maybe Florence) if appropriate, else we can just relax at the spa instead!

Alternatively we could do Florence on the second day and then Pisa on our final day.

Thanks,

Sidicks

I'd avoid Pisa.

If you're already flying there, then get a train to Florence and stay there.

Agree with the comments. There really isn't that much to see/do in Pisa - get on the train to Florence!

+ 1 , it really is not a very nice place .

1/2 day will leave you wondering what to do other than check out the Ho's at the side of the road ar barter with the Algerians for a genuine Rolex for 10 euros .

Guys, you're being way too kind here, Pisa is an utter sthole.

Apart from the areas mentioned above on your itinery, there is NOTHING in Pisa worth visitinbg/seeing. 2~3 hrs is more than enough. There are far nicer places within easy reach for you to enjoy - not least Florence.

On the basis of this and other similar comments, we will be flying to Pisa, but staying in Florence, and only spending the final afternoon of our trip in Pisa to see the sights there before flying home.

Recommendations for Florence hotels gratefully received!!

Thanks,

Sidicks

Have a look on www.booking.com - that's who I use to gauge a hotel and it's area. We've always stayed on the outskirts in villas on a weeks break, so not done Florence hotels. It's a busy place traffic-wise, so keep that in mind when booking somewhere.
