Hi,
I thought I would create my own thread rather than post in other people's!
A couple of my friends and our girlfriends are considering going to Le Mans for the first time this year and we're looking to get it booked fairly quickly. Could anyone give us some recommendations on where would be the best place to camp? We're going to need nice showers and toilets!!
Is that possible?
Also, are we better off booking a package on the Le Mans website or booking something individually?

it's a bit pf a tricky one this. This late in the day, the choice of campsites is a bit thin. I don't think any of the on site camping is going to be a 'comfortable' for the ladies, most campsites do their best to keep showers and toilets clean, but inevitably they get a bit worse for wear after a few days. If you are really after nice facilities, their are a few off site campsites close by (there has been some mentioned on here before) that might be more suitable. Again, this close to june, the availability probably isn't great.

My first time to Le Mans - I wanted to a bit of comfort, so I booked here:

Other than that all you have to do is book your crossing. You can buy your tickets on the gate...

I'm taking the other half for the first time this year, plus my mate and I wanted a bit more peace and comfort after the experience that was Karting Nord last year

Definately do a privately organised campsite with one of the groups known to this forum.
Thay all offer much the same, Marquee, Bar, SAT, private loos and showers and security etc. So it's really about cost and location.
I am biased, but Team Langoustine are track side inside the circuit at the Tertre Rouge corner to the Mulsanne.
Location cannot be beat and the site is surrouned by an 8ft wall. Inside the GE zone, so no pikeys on Sunday night either.
Your biggest problem is whether places are still available, so you'd best make a choice and get on the phone as soon as you can.

We have six couples this year and not one of the females (including my beloved Wife) has camped at Le Mans before. We've chosen Maison Blanche because the men like it, and have given no consideration to diluting the experience for feminine consumption. If they don't like, they wont come again. Which means it'll go back to being a lads week away with cars and beer If they do like it, it makes getting the pass-out in June much easier. Win-win situation in my book.
I suggest you book a pitch on Houx Annexe, and also accidentally 'forget' your personal hygene products. Kill or cure I say.

Nice one!BlueST's approach worked for me! 2003 it was really hot on the way down on the Thurs. Less than half way from Calais my wife (then girlfriend) asked me to pull over at the next service station and put the roof on the TVR to give her some shade or she'd get into our friend's aircon'd Mondeo that was with us. Needless to say I spent the rest of the journey on my own!
We also camped in MB. Oh, the look on her face at the sound as the first cars went passed for qualy while we were putting the tent up. At that point she realised it was going to be a long night while the race was on.
Don't get me wrong, she thoroughly enjoyed her weekend (fortunately or else it'd have been a nightmare for me!) but has said many times since that she'll "not be rushing back".

If the noise doesnt get her and the other females, the smell from the toilet / shower block by the main gate definetly will, she wont be able to hold her breath long enough to pee let alone shower.....I suggest you book a pitch on Houx Annexe, and also accidentally 'forget' your personal hygene products. OK true story, mid 90s Got home from work Friday tea time, girlfriend arrived home also from work, stuck TV on and BBC news was talking about Derek Bell competing at Le Mans that weekend! I looked at missus and said 'do we have anything planed this weekend?' No, came the reply, I picked up the phone did directory enquires to P&O ferries Dover and booked a late evening ferry! We arrived in Le mans town center about 6am Saturday morning, waiting for a bakery to open for some fresh grub Bought General entrance tickets at the circuit, parked the car in parking Blue, girlfriend spent the night sleeping in the back of the car, I found some cardboard boxes and slept on and off, on the banking near Maison blanc Great weekend, bloody cold about 5am though! Must remember a sleeping bag next time Still with missus but she dose not do Le mans anymore

Be warned though, all you guys who make it as rough as possible for your girlies, if we get the bug, you can't keep us away even after a crappy year in the 'slums!'

Try Beausejour - quite pleasant, and did see actual women there last year!
