Anyone done it can pass on any experiences?

Is it really all that much quicker and better handling?

Or should i not bother and change direction totally.

Main reason im looking at changing is i could probably do a straight swap with the celica and im bored of it.

I think you will find it a very different drive mainly down to the VTEC = economy for 80% of the rev range but an animal for 20%

You have to drive them hard to get decent performance from what I've heard.

the 190 engine in the Celica has VVT-Li which is a very similar type to the i-VTEC, in tat it's a normal car from tickover to 6800 rpm, but engine note and performance significantly changes 6800-8200..

i've never driven one, but i believe the integra is a much better handling car, not that i complained at the Celica, but similar performance and better handling cant be bad...

correct.

I've driven both, owned the teg. The teg has a wider powerband too (5800-9000) so is a lot easier to keep on cam than the 190. Much better gearbox too, better ratios and much better feel. The itr is definitely a step up in driving experience for me.

teg....DEF 100 percent!!! completely different car, I had one for two years and is prob best car I have ever driven!!! on "song" its mental!!! the crossover to the V-tec is surreal, whereas haven driven the Celica 190 its a lot more gradual!!

Get the Teg....u wont be disappointed

Agreed. The Toyota band is ridiculously narrow, and gearing is slightly longer (which makes it less-frenetic on the M-way but less responsive in-gear). As for handling, the diff and the feedback in the ITR really make a huge difference to the way you drive the car (IMHO the ITR can be a difficult car to drive slowly/sedately as it ALWAYS feels up-for-it, so you do too...).

The ITR does feel a generation older inside though, so in some ways it'll be a step-backwards...

Many thanks for responses chaps!

I have had a ride in one today, and Vtec is considerably "stronger" and much more accessible.

Looking forward to driving one very soon.

I went from a DC2 to a ST205...you can't go wrong with a teg. Went out in one at Bedford a few weeks ago. Big grin smile

Couldn't give up my faff now though, but would def get one as a second car. Such a special bit of kit
