Garmin have a service on the 'myGarmin' website dalled 'myDashboard' which allows you to plug your GPS into your PC and check whether it has the latest software. I've done this several times and it works well for the unit software.

Last week it told me that a new City Navigator Europe map was available for my nüvi 660, so knowing that my computer doesn't have the necessary 13Gb spare disk space for the 'download' version, I paid £10 to get it on DVD - which arrived yesterday.

I then spent over 2 hours updating the GPS, then checked 'myDashboard' again - only to be told that I still needed a new map. When I checked my download history, I discovered that all they'd sent me for my £73.40 was an Apr 2009 map, which I already had! So either the 'myDashboard' software isn't working properly, or Garmin are sending out old DVDs.

Hence I've asked them, in no uncertain terms, to rectify the situation. No reply yet though......

Garmin have now replied - it seems that 'myDashboard' can be confused by certain account and download profiles.

The new City Navigator Europe DVD is not yet available - it will be released in April 2010 and Garmin have kindly agreed to send me a complimentary copy.

That is good news that thee have solved your issue. I know that Garmin are usually pretty good when it comes to customer care. Just today I was looking to update my Zumo 550; guess that I have to wait a few more weeks then.

Garmin were extremely helpful - my problems seem to have been caused because I could no longer use the 'nuMaps Lifetime' system (as it required a massive 13Gb of free space on a computer's C-drive which I don't have), so cancelled my subscription and received a refund.... The 'OneTime' DVD, though very expensive, requires far less C-drive space - but still needs at least 4Gb.

The DVD upgrade should be available sometime in April 2010.

To my mind, Garmin need to come up with a DVD-based upgrade system which does not require over 2 hours and such huge C-drive free space.
