Never been to one of these before, so think I might give it a go.

I went last year, mainly for the road sportif, as it was the first one I'd done. The event was OK, hoping to see a lot more trade stands and stuff to buy. The DJ (music, not dirt jump!) sessions was a flop, (don't get me wrong, I love my tunes, but as there was no party atmosphere/dancing it just became noise drowing out your chilled out campfire tunes), although the Animal bike tour and 4x was good to watch. Took my mountain bike but never used it.

To be honest, it was the weather which really made the event, it could not fail to be good given the sunshine, and if the weather had not played ball then I probably would have gone home early. The fact it's moved to Brands Hatch this year means it's a bit far really, I think I'd rather just enter a local road sportif, and then just have a weekend on the Welsh trails intsead. I think Bikeradar probably needs a few years to really get into it's stride and then it will be a really good event.

Don't get me wrong, last year was a good first attempt and obviously a big risk for the organisers as they had no idea how many people would turn up.

Ahh, I didn't realize 2009 was the first one they did...I'll give it a go anyway, just to see what's what.

same weekend as the GP at silverstone so i'll be elsewhere (this is pistonheads after all!)

at a guess thats why they got brands, no racing as there are rarely meetings on the GP weekend, all the marshals etc at silverstone so they probably got brands quite cheap.

Is there still a normal indoor bike show at Ally Pally/Olympia/NEC?

Kind of like Autosport/Pistonheads but for bikes.
