Best South Coast Sea Side Place To Visit

Has anyone got any recommendations?
I fancy going to the coast with Mrs Charmless this Sunday. I live in Berkshire, we live about 50 minutes directly north of Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth. I'm just wondering if anyone had any idea of a nice area with a nice beach for a stroll and somewhere good for food etc that isn't too amusement-ey, if you know what I mean.

Yes I agree Bournemouth is very pleasant on a Sunday morning. From the pier turn right for a nice walk towards Poole past the chines, or left towards Boscombe pier. Of course there is an arcade or 2 but not that you would notice.
In fact I will be there in 2 weeks times to see the Sunseeker Rallye run down through the park and along the front on the Friday evening. Great spectacle.

beaches between Southampton and Portsmouth, including Portsmouth are all pebbly - so if you want to walk might not be the best unless you stick to the path behind the beach. Also not a lot to see/do to be honest, other than Southsea in Portsmouth
I think you'd have to go into Sussex to get to a decent beach, so New Forest/Bouremouth way may be better for you
