Whatever happened to............

........the LMP1 Dome racing team. I saw this beautiful car at Le Mans in 2008 which was officially placed 109 laps behind the Audi and in my view officially the best looking car there. Cant get much info on the team. It is/was a stunning looking car and the team did a fantastic job. I took this picture after the race in parc-ferme.

They are in this year's entry list - LMP1, No. 10 - DOME RACING TEAM (JPN)- MICHELIN - DOME JUDD - named driver - Sébastien PHILIPPE (FRA).
IIRC didn't they have some link to a Japanese University? Think they had oil troubles on the scale of the Exxon Valdeez in 2008 and spent most of the night in the garage, finally managing to get the car out for the final laps. Memory of this is soewhat hazy though!

You're possibly combining/confusing the truly woeful Tokai University entry with the Dome. The Dome put on a fine show for the first third of the race. Qualified 8th and (I think) ran as high as 6th in the first quarter of the race. But, it did indeed have some rather oily woes during the night, much of the oil ending up on one of the Pug's windscreens.
Make no mistake though, this is a serious contender for the (imaginery) petrol P1 podium. Interestingly, if the rumours are correct, the car will be run by OAK Racing at Le Mans this year.

we were in the RML racing booth/bar thing next to them above the pit, they were a truly beautiful site.
