Afternoon all,
Currently I run a joinery company, but It's not going to be a very long term job.
Ideally I want to get trained in another profession, and then wind the business up.
The business will be able to cover the training costs.
I'm 25 with only gcse's to my name.
what options do I have for training in a career in law?
And what areas of law would be good to specialise in?

Thanks

Matt

It depends how much you want to study/spend! If you're thinking solicitor or barrister then you'd need to do a law degree (3 years) then further training after that. An alternative would be something like a legal executive through the ILEX route which ultimately could end up with the possibility to qualify as a solicitor without the need for a degree (though other training would be needed).

Law is a huge field - obviously there's criminal law, then civil law, family law, property law and loads of other specialty areas. Are there any university law schools near you you could visit if they have open days, or alternatively contact local solicitors to see if they offer work experience?

Lawyers can get jobs in the Government Service as well as other fields. Lawyer can also work as legal counsel and legal advisers for firms, organizations and families. They can work as trustees of different trusts, as teachers, law reporters, company secretary and so on. There are opportunities in the defense services also.
