hello all,

i am processing a claim under my travel insurance for a raymond weil w1 [series 8000?]chronograph - full bracelet with lime green face.

this was a present for my 21st 8yrs ago and so i have no idea as to the purchase price. it seems my cover will only pay out for current value as well, which again i am clueless as to what that may be.

can anyone help with the original uk rrp on this watch and an idea of what it would be worth today? it was completely mint/scratch free. i don't want dave barclay and his dodgy mates to fob me off and struggle to replace it. pretty gutted its gone tbh.

cheers.

I tried on a blue face W1 chrono about 11 years ago and would have bought it if I hadn't had an attack of sensibility, being a poor student at the time. They were (and still are) really nice watches; both my sister and BIL wear these day to day. RRP wise I remember this going for £650/£700 back then. You seem to be able to buy new chronos on Ebay for c. £250...there is a lime on there now.

Are these 'new' ones going to be legit or fakes? I have seen quite a few fake ones on fleabay before. Anyone know when they were discontinued?

Yes they are nice watches for daily use and it being my 21st birthday gift from the folks makes me doubly annoyed.

Might have been around 2001, but I'm not 100%. Seller of the lime on Fleabay now has nearly 2000 feedback 100% positive; watch has tags and box I'd wager it's genuine.
