I have just taken a video on my car but is currently over 20 minutes long. Is there any free software available that i could use to crop the video and maybe put music over the top that you would recommend?

If you have Windows ME, XP or Vista, Windows Movie Maker should be pre-installed.

Windows movie maker does a reasonable job of it. The newer 'Live' version on 7 is meant to be considerably better, though I've not really used it.

Had a play with Windows 7 version of movie maker and have been quite impressed. It's certainly slicker than the old XP version i had used previously.

I think i'm going to have to try something a bit more capable though, as it appears to do strange things to the soundtracks from my 720p HD movies. The sound can end up delayed from the picture and even appears to run too fast. The finished files when written out also end up with a jerky frame-rate. A bit disappointing as the original movies play fine on my new Acer laptop.

Anyone else had any difficulties with HD movies in video editing software?

OP - sorry for hijacking your thread - thought it made sense to follow on from yours.
