Parkin

During my recent snow clearing I thought "I could really go for some parkin"

I did a few searches for recipes, but due to living in the States (now) I don't think treacle is available. I saw one recipe that involved mollasses.
I've never tasted mollasses, but it is available as are corn syrup and maple syrup.
Any help appreciated.

Are molasses and treacle the same?/similar?

They don't look the same

Treacle is the British generic name for any syrup made during the refining of sugar cane. Therefore, theoretically, Treacle, Black Treacle, Molasses and Golden Syrup are all treacles.

Thanks, that also accounts for not seeing treacle is US stores. I shall proceed with first batch of parkin.

Maybe for some. For me treacle is black; syrup - being further refined - is golden. [/pedant mode]

Nearest Kroger is 200 miles away in Viginia, that Stuffbackhome link is going to be useful, they have the 2.55k Branston pickle. I still have a couple in the cupboard as visitors don't get picked up from the airport unless they can show at least one jar.
I have made a batch of parkin...Delia Smith recipe, I subbed the Black treacle with Molasses and Golden syrup with Maple Syrup. Too soon to really tell how it is as it has to sit for a week, but I tried a bit while still warm, seems promising.
