E46 coupe Ipod/USB
Discussion
I am interested in fitting an ipod capability to my 2001 330ci, the build date according to the vin is 07/2001.
My question is i've seen a few systems and the two that are sticking out to me at the moment are the Denison Gateway 300 and the Denison Gateway Lite kit.
However they are asking about 40 pin quadlock and 17 pin round cd changer connectors. Does anyone have a solid answer to me as to which is needed? I have the CD changer and the business headunit with minidisk slot and Harman Kardon upgrade in my car.
Does anyone have any recommendations on which kit to get? I don't currently have an ipod, only a very old and battered iriver and assorted usb flash sticks with songs on, hence the need for a usb enabled system until I get an ipod. I read the lite is mainly for cars with little or no text display, so I assume there will be virtually no artist information displayed?
Am I right in assuming it plugs directly in to the back of the head unit and then i wrangle the cables, unit and when I get it, ipod in to the glove compartment.
thanks in advance.

Hi,
I fitted a Dension Icelink, which I think is the similar to the new Gateway, along with a Parrot bluetooth kit to my E46, it's a fairly straightforward job and I think mine had the 17 pin connectors but you're best off popping your stereo out just to be sure.
This is a particularly good source of online guides: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22
And here's a good E46 specific guide; http://www.flickr.com/photos/balchy/20541232/in/se...
Like I said, pretty straightforward:
