I am curently getting quotes for the construction of a shed in the back garden. It's an awkward space about 4ft by 5ft and a standard shed wouldn't really fit in. There are walls on 2 sides, and a lowish wall on the other side, so obviously it's only a front, door, roof and one half of a side to construct.

Have had a quote, including labour and materials, with retaining bolts in the wall to secure the bikes, for £360. Subsequently reduced to £310.

Reasonable?

Allowing £100 for materials - which is light - that's £210 for labour and overheads. So a day for one bloke.

Personally, that sounds far too light for a good job to be done properly.

What sort of door is being fixed. What ironmongery is being used? Retaining bolts to secure the bikes? What size, diameter of metal? How's it going to be weathered around the wall abutments? How's it going to be weathered on the roof and timber panels? I'd say £600 would be the minimum for a suitable, robust job.
