There's a place in Worksop selling them for £20 a pair through their ebay shop, double that through their website.
Can't remember the name, but I've used one for six months with no problems...
If you're replacing one only, make sure you get the same colour temp, or it's an MoT fail.
Are they proper Xenon or a regular halogen bulb that is filled with Xenon gas? Can't remember the name, but I've used one for six months with no problems...

You could try http://www.hids4u.co.uk/home.php as I think they do OEM replacments as well as aftermarket kits.
I had this on a 97 5 series and swapped the bulb to no avail. It turned out to be a problem with the ballast unit.
I have 2 spare genuine BMW xenon bulbs that I would sell individually if the OP needs one. Not looked at the xenon bulbs in my current 02 car, so I'm not sure whether the facelift cars use the same bulb fitment, but I assume so.
