Earlier today I received a text from an unknown mobile number which simply read "Hi how are you." As I didn't know the number I ignored it. Soon after two more texts appeared from the same number the first asking abut my job, the second asking if I was single. Another one followed where the sender told me his name and said he wasn't a freak, (makes me think he is) and did I want to get to know him. Due to having my own business, my mobile number is on my vehicles so it could be seen by anyone.
The question is: What do I do now? Is this a wind up, a wierdo or maybe that one genuine person?
Call me cynical but my barbed wire barrier is right up and I can't help thinking of that old saying about what happened to the curious cat.

Guess if he's really interested, he says he's seen me around, he'll ring instead of messing about with texts. As my mates know I work irregular hours and drive for hours most days so texts regularly get left for days before I reply. I can always take a mate or two along for back up if this bloke wants to meet up, now I'm sounding really paranoid!

I'll see what happens and post any updates!
Suppose people go on blind dates and meet over the internet but I feel a bit out of my depth when I think that he's already seen me and I don't even have a clue who it might be.

Thanks for that AJS-! Must admit though it does feel like this person is stalking me.

Well you could try googling his name, never know what that might bring up!

Thing is look at it another way, and there have been threads on here about it I am sure.

Someone posts:-

I have seen this lovely girl she's gorgeous, I know her mobile number, but not whether she is single or not. What do I do.

And you'll find the PH response (well the serious ones anyway) will say go for it, text her or something.

So its entirely possible its not a stalker. You could ask him to phone you, or you could respond by text, or you could ignore it. Do the latter and you'll always wonder who it was!

I have suggested he rings me as texting doesn't sit well with me, except as a means of non important messaging. I am curious, in some way it is a compliment but I meet plenty of people who are 'nice' to me but at least when I'm face to face with someone I feel like I have some control over the situation. Fear of the unknown I guess.

Run away, tell him thanks but no thanks. If you are looking for love pop over to Match.com and join the rest of the sad lonely people over there.

Seems a bit desperate, no? Perhaps only wants to get into your pants, but could be worse.
Ignore the texts, or (if feeling brave) phone him to give an ear bashing perhaps. phonecurse
