I'm after something dressy that's not round and been looking at one of these recently, anyone got any good/bad things to say.

Uses an ETA 2892-2 movement and generally looks really well made.

There's nothing wrong with movement per se, indeed, it's very good, but maybe have a look at the JLC reversos for something a bit more 'in-house'?

As has already been said there is nothing wrong with the movement, but Cartier will be charging you a lot for it relatively speaking.

Personally I'm not keen on the crown design & I'm not a Roman Numerals fan in general, but if you really like the design, go for it, but not before checking out the Nomos Tetra, which I believe has an in-house movement

imo ok if you are into buying jewellery, however if you want a watch you need
to look elsewhere....

Not sure what you're saying, do you mean it's not a very good watch? I thought the movement was quite good and it does look well made but I don't know much about these things so looking for info. I understand the argument that Cartier don't make their own movements and therefore could be overpriced but if you like somehting you like it eh....

If you just don't like it that's Ok, I freely admit to having no idea on taste. smile

Yep I do like the JLC reverso watches, but tbh I see them as something I'll want when I get a bit older! Having said that, I'm also looking at a black dialed ultra thin as my ideal black tie watch.

Tried one on yesterday as well as a JLC and a Brietling, all square (ish) designs. The JLC was just a mile away in terms of quality but it was also twice the price so not sure if that means Cartier are overpriced.

it's a very nice watch
bought one for my misses but with the pink saffire glass
bought it last year tax free in st martins (€ 1900)

you should buy watches like you buy clothing
for each activity and feeling a different one
so: baume and mercier (i'm feeling so so), cartier (lets go shopping), tag heuer (sporty), jaeger lacoultre (christmas dinner)

so
don't listen to people telling you off it's not a classic ?
as long as you don't buy a tourbillon jaeger lacoultre or another limited edition watch it's only talk.
