E36 318is versus 323

I have a 318is and love it now I'v put the original wheels back on(205x60x15 instead of 235x45x17). My wife has a 323 auto touring it's good but IMO mine corners better due to it having less weight up front.
Do you think a 323 coupe manual with the bigger throttle body and some suspension mods could be a better car to run than the 318is?
Has anyone owned both and settled on one of them?
