It's Gary Numan. One of the workers at TVR is a big fan of him and sprays it on his work.
I was very impressed (not) once when I visited a bodyshop rebuilding the front of a Tuscan. On the new grille that had been supplied by TVR was some writing in marker pen. It wasn't the part number or an order number is was "Manchester United". Very professional!

Some of the graffiti I've found when rebuilding M-series cars has been 'interesting' to say the least. It's normally found on the back of dashboards or in the fuel tank area. Many of the cars sent to the US during the 1970s had 'messages' for the American customers, usually in the back of door panels or under the fuel tanks. The original dealers and customers never knew about it, it was only when the car was refurbished several years later by an unsuspecting enthusiast that they came to light.
I saw a raw Tuscan body in build with "so and so is a w@nker" written on it in thick black marker. I assume it was one of the writers cllegues and not the prospective owner he was referring to!
I think this is very common at TVR. So most of us have been driving around oblivious to this sort of commentary right under our noses.

Sorry Ted, The Gary Newman thing is absolutely fine (tracability etc!), but offensive grafiti... if your tiv was as unreliable as some described on these pages and you then found someone had scrawled obscenities over it...
Talkin' of glass houses an' all that - at my last place an bit of kit went out directly from R&D with 'Mick Blows Goats' on one of the screens - luckily no one on the recieving end was called Mick.. Also same factory, one of the shop floor guys left his sandwiches inside one of the mixing desks only to be found some 3 years later (the company makes top end recording equipment and mixing consoles - 300/400K each..) oh well, see you in bristol
