Ummm just wondering if any of you lot know someone who has some, or knows where I can get my hands on some.

I need about 6 large ones if possible. Although small ones would also be okay I reckon.

I know they run around wild, but I don't want to have to catch them or shoot them with a crossbow or anything like that. Oh and I need them alive.

There's a butcher in Buxton that rears them on his farm (so not technically wild I guess).

http://uktv.co.uk/food/outlet/aid/622840 <- some reviews and their contact details.

ETA: His wild boar sausages are the best i've ever had the pleasure of tasting.

Yes alive.

And no they're not for shagging. They're far too agressive for that.

Not if you get them pissed first.

I've hunted them, on foot, with a 10 bore shotgun.

Be careful, Tim old man. They tend to go for the knackers when they charge.

10 bore. Larger guage? Do they take much stopping?

lots

I know someone who'd shot a large male three times with a .22 and he still got gouged in the leg

they're some wild in Essex (I am lead to believe that they escaped from a farm) but have yet to see any

if you are going to farm them you may be better off importing them from europe

Yes they do. In Africa you go after wild pigs with a rifle, in a decent calibre, which is more sensible than the Sri Lankan way of doing things. I used a .375 on a 300 grain bullet there, which is a proper game calibre. You can just about get away with .225 if you're a good shot (which is a lot larger and more powerful than .22; the guy in the post above who used that calibre was a lunatic).

10 bore shotgun, and large lead shot; cartridges I used had only 9 lead balls in them.

Hmmm logistics might be a bit involved. I was wondering if anyone knew of any breeding herds in the UK. I suppose I could get some piglets and rear them up.

If it's a bit tricky though that's good. And if they're viscous little sods then that's good too.

I know they go for the thigh, they tend to rupture a major artery in your leg causing death by blood loss.

There are a couple of herds running wild in North Devon apparently.

Set free from a farm that reared them for shooting parties, by animal rights protestors.

That will take down a wild boar humanely?

Do you need a head shot from a short distance?

I'd have thought a proper rifle as you would use for deer would be necessary...
