Just whacked one of my 18" Spiders into a Pot Hole Grrrrrrr! Useless Council Waste of Tax payers money Grrrrrrrr!

Looks like I now have a flat spot over the rim and I am picking up vibration through the steering wheel.

Anyone know if I can buy a single wheel?

Im sure that you can get one through a main dealer, no problem...and i would suggest that you have your tracking checked as well....

Could be a factory job.You see the odd set of 16 ins spiders on E bay but haven't seen many 18s.Might be worth getting your suspension checked out if you hit the pothole hard enough to bend the wheel.Where did yo do it so I can avoid it!

Boldon near the Friendly Hotel - Bad repair to the road where they've installed traffic lights.
After a good rant on the phone they've come out and filled it in - no doubt to wear away again.

Nowt on e-bay!

Been to a wheel specialist who just shook his head.

Looks like the damper has blown as well

Believe you can claim off the council for damage to wheels or vehicles if the a road is in disrepair, got speed bumps up the road from me and i was right on the case threatening damage.......theyve been reduced now.

Sorry to hear it Jeff.Noticed a couple of tuscans on here have upgraded wheels so bound to be some spare 18ins spiders kicking about.Think I would be looking at a claim at the council. After all lots of people sue for tripping over uneven pavements!

Just seen this in the classified might be worth an email to see if he has been offered more than one

Go for the claim route! I did and although I didn't take a photo of the hole I threatened them with legal action and after 8 months was awarded the price of the new spider. It took a few letters and a promise to post them the wheel if they didn't believe me. Suggest you get down the road find the hole and snap it before it looks like they filled it in months ago.

As a rule of thumb, the councils insurance policy usually means that a claim has to be made over say £500 before they can seek legal protection from their insurers, if you threaten them with the legal eagles they will usually cave in because they will have to run their defence net! Go for it and just be honest but remember that it is the councils duty to insure that the highways are properly maintained.

My good lady hit a pothole in the T5 (my sensible car) which has rubber bands around 18 inch rims outside Glasgow a year or so back (it was the day Rangers scraped a narrow 3-0 win over Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup semi I recall) and burst a tyre - Council stumped up 150 bucks (eventually) which paid for most of a new P6000

I've written the letter to the Council (estimating the worse case scenario of course) which will be wheel, tyre, valve, balanced, tracking, damper etc.. £500 +.
Taking to the garage later for a good look over.

Think the fact they filled the hole reflects that they accept that it should not have been there.Good Luck

I would take a few photos of the damage and the pothole. This will back your claim up. Good luck.
