Visiting London with my son for 2 days
Discussion
Following on from the other London thread, im driving (in my 1972 Bristol) to London from my home in Italy at the end of Feb with my 10 yr old son. Starting to think about ideas to keep him (well me mostly) amused for a couple of days. very short list so far
Imax 3d cinema (never been to one)
Museum, prob science or natural history as he loves space, starwars and dinosaurs
Hamleys, because we can both spend hours in there
???
???
Somewhere to eat interesting for a 10 yr old?
Doctor who??
staying in the kings cross st pancras area in the evening (dont ask) but prepared to tube it all over
thanks
steve

If he hasn't been on the London Eye that's always good fun for a kid. Also maybe a Duck tour - one of those buses that also drives(? sails?) down the Thames.
Musically minded kids would like Tin Pan alley, it's full of music shops. And while I haven't been to Camden Town for many years that was always a hotspot for kids - although 10 may be a bit young.
A lot of stuff on the South Bank is great fun for all ages - the marine centre as an example. Plus there was a gadget shop next door (not sure if it's still around) that had a pretty cool robot.

Definitley the Science museum. They have a big mock up of the lunar landar and that kind of stuff, plus planes and cars and steam. I thought it was brilliant when I was there. They also do talks in the space area about the moon landings, etc. But maybe that's only for school groups?? And it's free! I think.Definately London Eye, best thing i did with my 11 y.o. godson. Gives a great overview of the city, so he will see where all the things you visit by tube are in relation to each other.
Agree Natrual History Museum
Also there is a temporay dispaly of animatronic dinosaurs showing somewhere in London at the moment, I think?
Edit to add: Yes here they are, Parklife, Oxford St (Bond St tube), 28 Jan - 30 April (from viewlondon.co.uk)

We used to take ours in to the London Trocadero for a couple of hours ,where they had all the latest games and entertainments .
Good atmosphere for a young lad
This was over 10 years ago so I don't know if it is still at the fore of gaming
