Not being of the religious persuasion I've only just found out it is Shrove Tuesday tomorrow. So, no time to make up a batch of my favourite savoury filling - Chilli, but lemon and sugar is just too uninspiring.

What are folks' suggestions?

Sliced apples sauteed in a small amount of butter, copious amounts of maple syrup and a sprinkling of pecan nuts to add crunch.

Either the classic lemon and sugar or condensed milk

Not really a fan of chocolate, strawberries or bananas on pancakes - simple is best
