HI
Ive had my front suspension apart today as i wanted to repaint the bottom A arm which had some flaking paint and found 2 things owners best check seeing as your car is tucked away for winter..
1st front discs.... all my drilled holes in the discs surface which are ment for cooling were all blocked with brake dust and dirt!!! I ended up buzzing arround them with drill in hand just pokeing the crap out....took 2mins with the wheel off.....
2nd the lower arm has a drain hole in it to drain the water out of the bottom ball joint...I have to add I have rose jointed suspension so not sure if everyones bottom balljoint is a rose bearing sitting in a deap cup, but if it is when its wet and or you clean the car, water will sit there ontop of the bearing and rust it away.... Well anyway the drain hole was blocked on both sides of the car and again a simple task of pokeing something through the hole to clear it..
Just thought Id let everyone know, as i certainly dont want to replace a set of discs due to this...
Also has anyone take the discs back off after a while... mine seem firm on and i cant see a retaining screw holding them on and certainly not hitting them with a hammer.....a bit of heat tomorrow might be in order

Hi Dom, A metal head hammer is a no-no, so try a plastic or rubber headed hammer and gently tap the discs. Probably a bit corroded around the joints, so clean and a film of copper grease should protect the metals against further corrosion. Disc holes should be cleaned out often to keep the break dust and crud clogging up the holes and a good blow with compressed air should get things clean. This was the task after each race day in my Porker. Also a good way to check the pad wear, hair cracks developing in the discs, before a good bleed all round with new break fluid
