If a GT3 was a watch...........
Discussion
......what watch would it be?
Don't get round these parts much. Just trawled through a few threads and it's like you guys are talking a different language!! I really know nothing about watches....
On the car forums I like the posts where people ask "what car should I get?", and enjoy the process of finding a car that would suit their requirements. Especially brands or models that they would not normally consider.
So I thought you guys might like to try it the other way around, fitting a watch to my needs.
Posted on the 'What's on your wrist 2010' are my current watches. No thought really on putting them together, just really filled the gaps, one after the other. A daily hack (Longines), the smart but plain carrera, the fancy Monza (a little too flash, but I thought I got a deal) and me ol' gramps watch (got to grow into liking/wearing that one
)
Here they are again:
The daily run around - a few shopping trolley dinks:

The early Sunday morning blaster:

Midnight City cruiser:

The late Grand daddy P's Tissot - any good?

So I'm after a watch to wear on weekends, not particularly dressy, not a daily plain Jane.
If it was a car it would be my 997 GT3.2.....
.....But what would it be??
I have no brand loyalties nor preferences, and lets say upto £3000 (but you can twist my arm if you have to!!)
ta in advance.

Sorry, but the watch / car anology just doesn't work for me.
If you want advise on a particular type of watch I'll try to help, but I've never had a watch like my GT3
That's the trouble Andy, I don't know what type of watch I want, but I know what type of car I like!!If you want advise on a particular type of watch I'll try to help, but I've never had a watch like my GT3
So, 'this' watch has to be:
- Traditional styling with a contempory twist
- Low volume production, but not necessarily LE
- Performance heritage
- Recognisable sillouette
- Considered the 'sports' model of the range
- Maybe components like strap or face replaced from SS to Carbon or exotics of some description
But I really don't want the Turbo model......

(Oh, and black bits would help

As you like iconic shape what about a tag Monaco gulf version as I think the new generation of monaco's are hedious and way too big.
Also there's the gulf and Porsche link :-)
would put a pic up but don't know how too on my iPhone
Just checked it out Rob. I see your thinking there. Not a real fan of the square watch, my Monza is a 'square' as I'd wanna go - and that's got a round dial!! Ha!Also there's the gulf and Porsche link :-)

The Gulf thing takes it on a little too far for me though Rob. Best left for a C2 flying down the M20 on it's way to Le Mans!!
I hope you don't mind given my view, it might help close us in on the winner!!

Pitched that site right in my face, haven't they. Do you think they do metal straps, my sweat has melted the Monza strap in not too many years of occasional wear.LuckyP said:
