RDRAM: PC800 vs PC1066, will I notice the speed difference?
Discussion
I have at home a reasonably elderly Dell Dimension 8250 with a P4 3.06GHz CPU, 533MHZ FSB, and 1GB PC1066 RDRAM.
I'd like to increase the RAM, but it's that bloody annoying and expensive RDRAM RIMM stuff.
It looks like I could obtain PC800 modules for about 1/3rd the price of the PC1066 stuff, but I'm not sure if the doubling of RAM (1GB to 2GB) would be in any way outweighed by the slower speed (800 vs 1066)
Any thoughts?

The speed won't make a difference - if you did notice it then you'd be using something with far more grunt. The issue is the cpu/fsb sync, and for this you may be limited to 1066 only. I've never owned a p4 so can't comment on this aspect, but I'd find out the answer before investing.
