Hi Everyone
For convience more than anything the last two years my wolfpack have stayed in the Chateau d'eporce. Its a lovely place to stay and we have nothing bad to say against it but wanted to get closer to the action this year so have booked 2 pitch's in Karting Nord. I was hoping someone could tell me a bit more what its like there. I have read previous posts and on the beer mountain site that its allocated pitch's and reasonable shower and toilet facilities but i'm interested to know more about its location what its near, what the site is like etc so some question are
How close is it to the track, whats the nearest viewing point in terms of walking distance?
Is the Tram a walkable distance from the campsite?
How do i find the site when i get to Le mans will it be sign posted up as Karting Nord.
Does Kangaroo TV work on the site?
How secure is it, should we be locking everything in the car everyday?
If anyone has any pictures of their campsite plot i'd be interested to see

Hi there. I've camped on KN for the last 6 years and found it to be a very good campsite.
Facilities are good and kept in as good a condition as possible! The ground can be very hard in places
so take a big hammer!
You can watch racing 2 minutes from your tent, if you go to the Karting Centre. This is quite a good vantage point and good for a late night catch up if you happen to dose off in your tent!
It takes about 10-12 minutes to get to the main village behind the pits depending on how many beers you've had!
The Tram is walkable, but will prob take about 15 mins
Finding the campsite is very easy. If you go passed the main entrance as if you were heading out of town, get to the roundabout at which you would turn right to Arnage, but instead turn left, head under the bridge and then left at the next roundabout. Drive along the 'drag strip' (you'll see!) to the next roundabout and campsite entrance is on your immediate left.
I haven't used Kangroo TV, so I can't answer that one.
Security is the same as all sites around the circuit, keep vaulables locked in car etc

ok sounds good. We will be turning up thursday afternoon so i hope it'll be trouble free getting set up by then. I'm still trying to decide if its worth getting a gazebo etc for the pitch. We will probably get a decent size tent but aside from a BBQ and maybe a few chairs i don't think we will really be spending much time at the campsite aside from grabbing maybe a few hours sleep.
Boolay is pretty much spot-on. we stayed there last year and thought it was an excellent site. Lock EVERYTHING away on any campsite. If you are buying from an agent such as 1st Tickets etc, ask them to put you at the far end next to the Airtrack lot near the Karting track. Its away from the Kebab stall and slightly quieter under trees.
Get a gazeebo, Robert Dyas do a good cheap one for about £20. Picture shows 2 x campsites from the Mini to the Supra and the gazeebo in the middle of 2 tents, a very good set-up. Ideally you need an area with a gazeebo for breakfeast etc

We have been on KN for the last couple of years and we all think the location is spot on. Good for the Porsche curves and the main village is pretty much next door. Theres also a few viewing areas up against the fence within campsite itself.
We had a Kangaroo TV thing last year and it worked fine. We were at the far end of the site and it worked fine so it should work anywhere on KN i would have thought.

Yup, as others have said, throughly recommend Karting Nord, it has been excellent for us in 07 & 08 (missed out last year).

Brings back memories. The first time I went to LM, we stayed on KN. Arrived Wednesday pm and found we couldn't get the tent pegs (of the heavy duty variety) into the concrete (ground, sorry). Had to find a large rock and bash them in. Complete contrast on Saturday afternoon when it chucked it down (that was the year that what appeared to be half the field went off on the first lap). Got back to the tent to find the concrete had turned to porridge and the pegs were pulling themselves out. We had to dig a trench around the tent to drain the water away and keep the tent upright. Was in KN the next year and since then have been trying out several other sites at the behest of the ACO (well, it seems that way). Take a trenching tool as well as a large hammer!

Cheers. For info, we had Black Audi S3, Yellow Mk1 MX5, and a Shed Vauxhall Corsa. And a rather loud generator... hopefully didnt annoy too many people! BigMans197 said:
