Our Rangemaster double oven thing had a few problems....convection fan would stick, element in the smaller over didnt work and nor did one half of the grill. Found the parts online and bought, took the back off and took the parts out (elements just "plug" into the wires) fan just unscrewed.

Now...parts come today so i plan to just re-fit as i took out and off i go.....as a complete DIY no nothing - am i in any danger or is it as simple as plug and play (as it looks)

Also - the oven element looked "corroded" at one part...almsot as though it got "too" hot - could that be why it fail and is it a sign of anything other than a bust element?

I've replaced oven elements several times and never had a problem.

assuming you turn the power off you wont blow up. and it may have been better to wait until the parts arrived before pulling the wires off.

all those bits aside from the fan motor could be done from the front without removing the back. Depending on age, you might find the fan motor will be different with a much larger nut on the fan itself (you have bought genuine parts of course?). It will fit but you may need to break off a protuding and unused rivnut that helped locate the original fan, also the coils on the fan may end up in an alternative position meaning the wires may be a stretch or in some cases need to be extended. there are 2 versions of the grill elements so make sure you have got the correct wattage.

Worst case...what results from the wrong wattage? I only found one wattage option on the website (genuine bits)

if you change both then no real problem, but only change one then uneven grilling.

Update!

£70, two new grill elements, new non-fan oven element and a fan/motor for the fan oven.....all fitted and working! Yey me!

Had grilled chesse on toast for the first time in about a year last night! Worth £70 on its own!
