Depends what you are shooting at. The Pavelow and the AC130 both have chaff and flares that can result in your stinger missing, resulting in you having to make multiple shots.
I've read that some airborne targets take more than one hit, but I have also read that provided the stinger actually hits the target then it just takes one.

Everything only actually needs one stinger hit, but the Chopper Gunner and Pave Low both have one flare and will usually need 2 shots. AC130 has 2 flares and so will usually need 3 shots to be fired to hit it.
The harrier and attack helicopters have no flares so are the easiest to bring down.

Ah thats interesting stuff. I always thought it was two actual hits on those. The harrier and attack helicopters have no flares so are the easiest to bring down.
How does the Javelin bypass those counter measures? Suppose in the real world does it have greater lock on abilities?

its been taking me 2 for the choppers and harriers that don't have counter measures. and thats from point blank range. The harrier and attack helicopters have no flares so are the easiest to bring down.

very annoying.Yep any air support only needs one hit but you need to empty it of its chaffs, as said 1 set fot pavelow and chopper gunner and 2 for AC130. None for Hind or Harriers.
Javelins are affect by Chaffs aswell I though?
What I have noticed with stingers is that if your first one misses, your second one will miss too! Especially when shooting at harrier. I think though it is to do with the angle that you shoot from. If you shoot into the Wash of the jets they tend to run wide.
