hi chap`s i purchased a e46 m3 last year without any service history, i bought it a cat c damaged. i have repaired it for my own use, i really love the car and understood from the outset that all bmw service history is tracable. i have rang the £1 a minute service but it has not been terribly helpful, i ahve contacted the selling dealer but they`re not too willing to help either. is anyone out there able to trace the history for me?? the reg number is kj04 tdx. i have a duplicate book & have got 1 oil service stamped!please is anyone able to help ! thanks barry.

Hi Barry, the history helpline should tell you the dates and where it was seen by the dealer network, although it may not know what for (you may need the chassis number if they cant find it off the reg plate). When I did a history check on mine they verified all visits then I called the individual dealers to check what was done and when.

Get yourself down your local dealer and have a chat with the service manager.
Don't need to tell them how you came about the car but the history has been lost.
I've had it before and they stamped up a replacement book plus give you printouts of each invoice.
Depending on dealer they might not charge.
It might benefit if you're a member if bmwccgb and mention 'someone from the club recommended you go there'
If you are a member of bmwccgb then each dealer had an adopter from the club so could be also worth an ask!

well!! visited the selling dealer today they reluctantly stamped the pdi(they had the pdi down as a mot test)they said they had no more records of it being there only for brake pads, then visited carrs of bury st edmonds they were extremely helpful, after a little investigation they was able to tell me the selling dealer (elms of bedford) done a insp 1 at 13`500 miles. if carrs could find this out why couldn`t elms ??? getting a little annoyed with it all now ! the car obviously has bmw history because it had a warranty until recently....... help !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd check the address of previous owners if you have any, and if they serviced it at BMW, i'd bet they would have used the local dealer, and in which case, you need to contact them.

This does sound very strange. They have no reason to not supply you with the evidence it has been serviced through BMW.
I had a similar issue with my MX5, as they no longer have a service book, I had no record of my car being serviced and when it came to sell it imagine how potential buyers must think when I said 'err yeah mate its got full service but I have no evidence'.

I rang Mazda and they supplied me with invoices for the last 3 services so I could prove to the new owner.
