Hello and Happy New Year of the Pig or Chicken, or whatever animal it is this year. Sorry if your pigs or chickens are offended.

I still have the original tyre sealant (for punctures) supplied by Ferrari, 13 years ago. Never used.
Factory fresh it is. But a little past its expiry.
All you supercar owners probably do not have spare wheels, and thus could be familiar with these sealants.
I know very little about tyre or alloy technology. In fact, I know nothing about tyre or alloy technology.

Will a very average tyre sealant can from a very average Halfords store suffice for the 225 front and 265 rear tyres on my F355?

Happy motoring!

Jolly good Buntings,

one shall purchase Halford's very own cost-effective alternative.

I've been told buy a couple of people that you should never use tyre sealant unless absolutely necessary - apparently it gums up the inside of the tyre and renders it unrepairable so you have to buy a new one automatically. I was just told to make sure I have RAC cover and call them out if I get a puncture!

I bought one of these and a compressor, used it once and it worked a treat smile

Any recommendation on the brand? Just recently I had a Holts Tyreweld leak in my boot so not happy about it and looking for other brands. Any recommendation? Anyone used ContiComfortKit?

are you sure? Surely if that was the case they wouldn't have told me so I'd have to spend more and buy a new tyre?!

I phoned ferrari assistance when I got a puncture, and they came and took my car back home for me for free. I thought all ferraris are now covered by ferrari breakdown cover? Which sort of makes sealant redundant.

I would disagree. Would you prefer to have a chance to start driving within minutes of having a puncture or waiting for 1-2 hours just to be taken home?

Sealant is the excellent way to get back on the road within minutes!

Erm, it's not a fix, it's just meant to enable you to limp to the nearest garage at low speed.

Maybe, it's not, but two times when I have used it, I never went to see a tyre repairer. On both occasions tyres were holding without any issues.

they may have been "holding", but if it had been my 911 that i'd used it on, there's no way i would have pushed on or used the car like i normally did. might be different for a regular car pottering around, but i'd be perpetually paranoid about some catastrophic failure half way round a corner if i was out for a blast in a performance car

Maybe you are right, even though I had used my BMW "properly".
After googling and searching for a number of forums, I have decided to go for a can of tyreweld and conti kit (with compressor). I think this would be nicely if I have a puncture. I do not see any point paying £90 for the BMW M-mobility kit (I have BMW).
