Chinese Lanterns

Mates let off a large one of these tonight, a perfectly still night so we watched it bob off up into the clouds. Pretty amazing to watch, but I can't help worry about aeroplanes etc?

Are they safe and legal at the moment?

Kind of fun anyhow!
