The Perfect Mobile GPS tracking application for you lot.

supposedly works on iPhone, blackberry, windows mobile & android.
The website does give the option to connect to Symbian, but doesn't appear in their 'mobile apps' bit.
I'm going away snowboarding next month, so felt the need to test out a number of GPS tracking applications. This would also be good for me keeping track on some of my local trails/routes, as well as being able to set myself targets for times/speed/distance on my road bike.
I wanted an app which met the following criteria
1) Free, or cheap (<£5).
2) The ability to upload your 'route' to the internet.
3) For the route to be saved to your phones memory, and then uploaded as and when you want (So when abroad, I can record my session riding, then upload once back at the hotel connected to wifi (to avoid being bummed by roaming charges)).
4) Should the phone switch off, go back to home screen (mostly for iPhone users), for the route to be saved to phones memory.
5) The ability to pause/resume a route (if you stop for some food, don't want average speeds being affected).
6) The option for the tracking to run in the background, or whilst the phone is locked, to reserve battery power.
7) The ability to share the information with friends/family or keep it private.
So, an app I have found to meet the criteria above is every trail

I have used the free version over the last couple of days, recording my riding around town on the road bike.
What I found:
Easy to use, very self explanatory, but mapped out the process below:
1) Before setting off, click 'start tracking', wait for GPS signal to be found.
2) As soon as GPS signal found, lock your phone (saves power, app runs in the background)
3a) If stopping for a break, unlock the phone and click 'pause tracking'. Click 'resume' to carry on recording
3b) If stopping for good, unlock the phone and click 'pause'. Click 'share' to then upload, stating what type of activity you were doing (walking, off road, road biking, snowboarding)
When I got home, I then uploaded the routes to the website, which instantly appeared when I logged in (free account). I was then given loads of information, a map showing my route, which is interactive (if I hover over a part of the route, it tells me what my speed was at that point, as well as lat/long). Average speed, distance travelled etc.
I can then download the data file to my desktop and load into Google earth. The free version only allows 3 routes to be uploaded to the website at once, the £3 version is infinite.. Hence why I download the data to Google earth.
P.S. also good if you take photos, it uploads these to the website too, shows you exactly where you took them!
