Car not starting...

I've seen a similar post on my same problem recently, but doing a search revealed nothing....

So, after a 20 odd mile drive to visit someone in hopsital, i parked the Tiv up... 20 mins later after a quick hello, i get into car, wait for the fuel pump to prime.... nothing
Friend with Lexus reverses back up... "what's wrong?" I explain the car don't wanna start "ahhh (in german accent) is this the TVR standard gremlin" swine... anyway, being always the optimist, i said since we've been in the hospital for about 20 mins, the car should start in about 10...
I kept trying during that time, wondering what was wrong with it.
Key in
ignition on
wait for fuel pump to prime
turn key
NOTHING, no clicking, no whirring, NOTHING!

10 mins later car starts!!! my mate thought i was taking the mickey when i told him about the "30 minute thang"
So, what's wrong?

P.S. whilst driving upto the hospital, i noticed the outside temp lights flickering all over the place, and the temp sensor was reading unsually high temps, although in 0 degrees, i'm notmally running about 60.

Sound like a classic HOT START problem. OH
All the lights are on but there's nobody in?

Starter motor on it's way out, they get cooked by the heat.

Do a search using hot start in TVR (all) and see what you come up with.

Sounds like the hot start issue to me. Happened to me all last summer. Been much better in this weather though!

New starter motor is required - so David Batty tells me!

I bought one of these as have a couple of others now.

To ensure a long life it's worth heat shielding the replacement.

Its also worth checking the supply to the solenoid, mine was only 6amps where it now takes 12 ! Its a simple test at the ignition switch and the mod can be done in the footwell.

You could try the test first, maybe the starter is fine, just not enough "juice" when the starter is hot, to pull in the solenoid.
