I'm looking to get back on a bike after 10 years, and i'm looking with a budget of around £275.

I've known of the Land Rover bikes for a while now, but I want to know if they are any good? Who actually makes them? Presumably the 'Land Rover' stickers are just a branding exercise?

I've managed to find an orange one for £269, this is the spec:

It's OK for the money, but I'd be looking at the likes of Specialized at that price.

If you can stretch to £350 then there are a lot more interesting bikes available.

This is a fantastic bike, and still available in your size...

Why is it better?

- Rockshox forks
- Hayes brakes
- loads more shimano bits
- 24 speed (means no more screw on freehub - you don't have to worry about this, but it's MUCH better)

You must be a bit of a monster to need a 21.5 inch bike though...6' 4" or more I'd say.

I'm 6' 6" tall. Finding bikes to fit in the right price range seems to be a bit of a challenge.

I have to admit to having a slight Land Rover fixation, and I figured an LR bike would look good on the back of the Rangie hehe

I bought a Trek 4300 series (I didnt get the disk version), it is a really good hardtail bike and within your budget.

if you are 6 foot 6 i would recommend you try before you buy rather than buying something on the internet because geometry on big frames is very odd and you will need to be comfortable. i have a friend an inch shorter than you and he really suffered on his old rockhopper as the bike was a 21 inch frame but nothing else was different, same stem as a smaller bike 172.5 cranks, no set back seat post.... seriously, try before you buy.

Well, I went out at the weekend and bought this:

22" frame fits great - I don't need the seat set high, although the seat itself isn't the most comfortable so i'll probably replace with something more to 'park bench' spec laugh
