Gear Box Oil

Any recomendations for gear box oil for the Rover box.

Had the oil changed and am now having difficulty in selecting gears.

I am based in Thailand and am having trouble in obtaining the original oils specified.

The box was filled with Dexron 3. I don't know what was used before.

I think I'm right in saying that Rover box requires automatic transmission fluid - it's red in colour. Don't go putting this in without someone agreeing with me though...
ie Check with a dealer/Rover specialist.

I changed to Castrol Automatic TQ Dextron III last change and now get a slightly better gear change.

The automatic fluid is the recommended one to use although TVR suggest the Mobil variety.

the mobil atf 220 that tvr recommend is apparently the equivalent of dexronII.i put dexronIII in mine(t5 box) with no probs-apparently it has a better heat tolerance.i used to put dexronIII in my tr7,which had the same box as earlier griffs/chims (rover lt77) and never had any problems.
