Blackberry / Washing Machine Interaction.
Discussion
Yes, I've gone and done it.
After years of sniggering at the threads of blithering idiots who've left their phones in a pair of jeans and stuck them in the washing machine, I've done exactly the same thing this morning.
I've read enough of these threads to understand that the PH concensus is to dismantle said phone and stick the part in the nearest airing cupboard.
But, does this method actually work?
Can someone please give me some hope with their tale of a resurrected Nokia or somesuch?
Or am I doomed?

Strangely Blackberry's aren't supposed to be water proof but seem to survive an awful lot of dunkings!

I regularly visit a client with lots of Blackberrys (nearly a thousand) and they tell me it happens fairly often they either go in the toilet or water somewhere.
I know some survive being through a cycle in a washing machine but don't be too surprised if it doesn't, washing a bb is about the most intensive thing you can do to it with water.

take it apart as much as you can , remove battery if possible , sim card . remove the back to aid drying.
i did it with a nokia 8850 years ago and it was fine

suggestion I found ages ago is to put it in white rice for a day or 2, won't cook it/heat damage components & will draw out the moisture
Thanks for the suggestion Trix-a-belle. It's now in the airing cupboard in its constituent parts. I shall leave it there until Saturday morning and then give it a go.
It's quite nice to be 'out of touch' for a little while.
(In an "Oh My God, What Am I missing?" kind of way).

quite alright, on a side note what are they like? easy to get on with/set up i'm considering getting one but not sure what model/features are beneficial
Very good, still the best device out there for messaging quickly and effectively. The 9700 (Bold 2) is the best of the traditional style Blackberry's and the Storm 2 is a very nice touch screen device (although under no circumstances consider the Storm 1 which is being sold cheap).
