As with most government appointed, non-job departments tasked with wasting out tax revenue, their mantra seems to be "Do as I say, not as I do...."

article in the telegraph said:
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is in charge of a multimillion advertising campaign telling the country to cut down on carbon intensive activities, such as taking domestic flights.

But last year officials from DECC took just under 1,200 domestic flights, including 26 return flights to Manchester that can be reached in two-and-a-half hours by train.

Ah yes, but with the price of flights, it may have been cheaper than the train...

Is the train any cleaner than air travel?

They say they've reduced the number of [i]domestic[/] flights from 2000 to 1200. Think I'd be more impressed if they'd knocked off a zero instead.

Still, it's only taxpayer's money and there's plenty of that isn't there? wink

Yeah, because it creates nasties at ground level and not 30,000 feet. So I've heard.
