Prompted by some great names seen in other threads, what are the most "appropriate" nicknames for UK towns? Some similar ones which have cropped up recently to start us off are,

There's a small coastal town just north of Aberdeen, called Balmedie, and alot of pupils to my school come from there, so some of us name it 'The Med'.
